The Claims Adjuster is responsible for providing quality customer service while obtaining and maintaining essential information in order to process cases involving worker's compensation (WC) claims ranging in complexity from moderate to complex. The first phase of the claims management involves handling claims that are routine in nature and either bringing the claims to closure or preparing the files to move to the second phase after a given time period or should the file become more complex.
Responsibilities:
* Directs the timely investigation of claims to determine the compensability of injuries/claims through communicating with claimants, physicians, medical providers, etc
* Prepares and executes appropriate file documentation to support the need for outside services such as surveillance, rehabilitation and healthcare management.
* Maintains contact with injured worker to ensure understanding of protocols and claims processing and to confirm return-to-work date.
* Maintains accurate records and handles administrative responsibilities associated with processing and payment of claims. Records and updates status notes, and documents results of contacts, relevant medical reports and duration information per file posting standards.
* Negotiates settlements directly or coordinates settlements as needed.

Requirements |
Qualifications:
* Three or more years of related customer service experience or applicable insurance knowledge
* Licensing required in some states
* General knowledge of claims investigation techniques, medical and legal aspects of claims required
* Pursuing continuing education courses leading to industry certifications (e.g., AEI, IIA, CPCU) highly preferred
